International HR Manager

Salary: UK - £47,902 per annum/Rest of the world - £38,322 per annum
Location: Birmingham or London UK (for exceptional candidates we will consider base locations linked to countries where IR has presence) - Up to 40% travel
Contract Type: Permanent

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people.  Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters. 

 

IRW is recruiting for the position of ‘International HR Manager’ on a permanent, full time basis, to join its dynamic team based out of offices, where IR has a presence globally.

 

This senior HR role oversees and supports global HR operations across all international locations. The position leads on developing and implementing key initiatives that contribute to the division's strategic objectives, while collaborating with directors, heads of departments, and senior managers across all global operations.

 

The role strengthens the global HR function by building effective people practices that drive organisational success. The post holder provides strategic leadership, risk management, coaching, and support to globally based HR staff, enabling effective people management, empowering leadership, and delivering on strategic ambitions related to people and culture.

 

The post holder will actively align to the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) HR standards and implement within all practices. 

 

The successful candidate must have:

  • Degree in management or social science, preferably in HRM or Business Studies.
  • Level 7 CIPD qualification or Level 5 with progress toward Level 7.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with creative thinking abilities.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven experience managing multiple projects, changing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications and HR software. 
  • Extensive experience in HR generalist services or business partnering at managerial level.
  • Proven record of excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage in multicultural environments.
  • Previous experience or significant exposure to the humanitarian and development sector.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Demonstrable experience in consultative team approaches to decision-making.
  • Proven ability to analyse data and formulate sound recommendations.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and self-management capabilities.
  • Substantial experience managing employee relations in a large organization.
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the UK and internationally.
  • Proven multidimensional approach to current and future challenges.
  • Ability to develop excellent stakeholder relationships.
