We are actively recruiting a motivated and ambitious Philanthropy Executive to join our team in Waterloo, London. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your career in major donor fundraising, helping to secure vital funding and build long‑term partnerships that support humanitarian work across the globe.

 

About the role:

As a Philanthropy Executive, you will focus on raising income and cultivating long‑term relationships with major donors, high‑net‑worth individuals and key partners. Working to agreed targets and budgets, you will represent Islamic Relief professionally and passionately.

 

About you:

You will be a confident, professional and relationship‑focused fundraiser with a strong interest in major donor philanthropy, and a commitment to IRW’s mission and values.

You will ideally have/be:

  • Educated to degree level or possess a relevant qualification or appropriate experience in a directly related post.
  • A good understanding of the Major Donor fundraising market and trends and of the Institute of Fundraising codes of practice.
  • Excellent negotiation, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills – the ability to present Islamic Relief’s work professionally to HNW individuals at major donor events.
  • High level of commercial awareness and professionalism.
  • Effective time management skills – adept at handling multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Strong IT in particular Microsoft Office with extensive experience of making visual presentations.
  • Demonstrate major donor fundraising relationship management, sales or marketing experience.
  • Demonstrable experience of achieving challenging targets.
  • Experience of working to and achieving an annual budget.
  • Proven experience of engaging with community, leaders and organisations.
  • Demonstrable experience creating, building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience in developing team strategies and plans.
  • Experience using databases to identify prospective donors and using research to build donor profiles.
