Community Fundraising Officer – North East

We are seeking a passionate and relationship-focused Community Fundraising Officer to help grow and strengthen our fundraising activities across the North East region. 

This is an exciting opportunity to engage with supporters, volunteers, community groups and local partners, helping to deliver fundraising initiatives that directly support Islamic Relief's life-changing humanitarian work around the world. 

Based in our Bradford regional office, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by building strong community relationships, developing volunteer networks and supporting fundraising events and campaigns that generate vital funds for those in need. 

 

JOB PURPOSE:  

As the Community Fundraising Officer, you will support the Regional Community Fundraising and Volunteer Manager in delivering regional fundraising objectives and growing community engagement across the North East. 

 

You will be responsible for: 

 

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with supporters, donors, community groups and key stakeholders across the region 

  • Identifying and cultivating new fundraising partnerships to expand community outreach and increase supporter engagement 

  • Managing stakeholder relationships through regular communication, meetings and fundraising support 

  • Recruiting, coordinating, training and supporting volunteers to deliver regional fundraising activities 

  • Maintaining and developing volunteer networks to maximise community participation and fundraising opportunities 

  • Leading and supporting volunteers at fundraising events, campaigns and community activities 

  • Representing Islamic Relief at both internal and external events across the region 

  • Supporting the planning, organisation and delivery of regional fundraising campaigns and initiatives 

  • Ensuring fundraising materials, merchandise and equipment are available and effectively managed for events 

  • Coordinating collections, appeals and fundraising activities with local organisations, schools, businesses and mosques 

  • Processing collections and ensuring funds and pledges are banked, recorded and managed in line with organisational procedures 

  • Producing receipts, certificates and reports for supporters and donors 

  • Responding to fundraising enquiries and providing regular activity updates to the Regional Community Fundraising and Volunteer Manager 

  • Promoting Islamic Relief campaigns, appeals and activities through regional and personal social media platforms 

  • Supporting the achievement of regional fundraising targets and helping to maximise income generation opportunities 

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, volunteers and partner organisations to deliver impactful fundraising outcomes 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

You will be an enthusiastic and motivated fundraiser with excellent relationship-building skills and a strong commitment to Islamic Relief's mission and values. 

You will ideally have: 

  • Experience establishing and developing relationships with key stakeholders and community networks 

  • Experience coordinating projects, fundraising campaigns and community events 

  • Experience organising and supervising events and fundraising activities 

  • Experience recruiting, managing and developing volunteers 

  • Knowledge and understanding of the local community and fundraising landscape across the North East region 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills 

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple activities simultaneously 

  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure 

  • Good numerical skills and confidence handling fundraising income and financial information 

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint 

  • Ability to represent Islamic Relief professionally in a variety of community and stakeholder settings 

  • Strong motivation and empathy towards the aims and objectives of Islamic Relief 

  • A proactive and flexible approach to work 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team 

  • A full UK driving licence 

  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally when required
